Dr. Annie V. Lam, principal of the Lam Consulting Group, is a recognized expert in public and nonprofit service. She has spent her entire career creating change and empowering others to do the same.
Annie is very passionate in helping increase participation of elected and career professionals in government through leadership and professional development programs. She began her career working in the California State Legislature for former Assemblymember Judy Chu and has served in various capacities in the political arena for over 15 years. Annie attributes her inner strength, grit, and resilience to her courageous parents who fled Vietnam as refugees during the Sino Chinese Vietnam war. Throughout her childhood and teenage years she picked fruits alongside her family in the agricultural fields throughout the Central Valley, Sacramento, and Vacaville. Her early life experiences molded her passion to drive change to create equal and equitable access to quality education, resources, and opportunities. She has created numerous programs and curriculums to cultivate talents for careers in a broad range of fields in the public and private sectors. Among other extracurricular activities, she served on the University of Southern California President’s and Provost’s Task Force on Racial Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion. She was recognized by the Sacramento Bee as a Top 25 Asian American Pacific Islander Change Maker in 2022 and is the recipient of the Sacramento Business Journal’s 40 under 40 Award, the Asian Pacific American Leadership Foundation’s Woman Warrior Award, the National Association of Asian Pacifics in Politics and Public Affairs inaugural Forward Award, the Center for Asian Americans United for Self Empowerment’s Partners in Public Service Award, and the Asian Pacific Islander Capitol Association’s API Staff Champion Award. Annie is most proud of her work with youth. She founded APIs Mobilize to build the community power of Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders through its statewide educational programs. Annie holds a doctoral degree in Organizational Change and Leadership and a master’s degree in Public Administration and certification in public policy from the University of Southern California, and a bachelor’s degree with honors in Asian American studies from UC Davis. |
